Today was a difficult day. I went to the food bank, a service provided by the government—one that my family and I have even donated to in better times. But what I experienced today was humiliating and deeply unfair. When I arrived, a Muslim woman denied me service, claiming I had been there twice that week, which is completely false. Before I could defend myself, she called over another woman—a Black woman with a condescending attitude—who accused me of coming multiple times. They had no proof, just their words filled with disdain. Not only did they refuse to give me the food I genuinely needed, but they also insisted that my husband had come to collect food—something that is simply impossible. He has been bedridden for a long time. How could they make such accusations without evidence? How could they decide who deserves help and who doesn’t?
