One of my best friends had his wedding here. It was a two-day wedding because a traditional one followed on the second day. We were so tired afterward Everything went perfect on both days. The space was divided so that they could have the ceremony and reception there. We had so much fun and the staff was super diligent.
We had the BEST night and so did our guests. They were raving about the fabulous food, the amazing bar and how unique and elegant the venue was. We had the best experience with Samir and his team that night and in the months leading up to our big day! We couldn’t have picked a more perfect venue!
Venue was beautiful. Sanath and his team were complete professionals and attentive to all our needs, quick to deal with any questions or changes and very flexible. We couldn’t have asked for anything else. Thanks for everything!
We just got married at EWG over the weekend. Fantastic venue. Fantastic staff. Fantastic food. All our guests are still raving about the venue and the food. Kudos to Samir and his team that made everything seamless and an overall great experience
I was a GUEST at a wedding at the venue last weekend (OCT 05 2024). The space is gorgeous. The staff were great. The bartenders JESSIE & DANIEL were excellent, friendly and quick. They treated everyone as an individual (providing recommendations, etc), while remaining professional. Kudos!
EDIT: Unfortunately, the response to this review proves my point re: management’s attitude towards customer service. Search this venue in Facebook groups, you’ll see that there have been many of the same complaints Owner was extremely rude when we were trying to reschedule our wedding due to covid policies in 2019/2020. We chose this venue because our planners had worked with them in the past - I ignored the poor reviews here at the time because I trusted the planner, but the planner is not involved when you cancel your wedding. The office manager had told us one thing, and when I spoke to the owner he told me I was lying. I reached out to other brides on Facebook who were trying to reschedule or transfer their date, and I spoke to 3 other women who also had issues with management. DO NOT BOOK YOUR WEDDING HERE, AVOID THE HEADACHE. Look for venues who were kind to customers during changing Covid policies
Update: 3months after our wedding, still no apology from management on how they poorly handled our complaint. Instead, the venue has offered us $500 to remove this review. I don’t want anyone to go through the hell that we were put through with this venue so I didn’t take this unethical offer. I would be wary of the reviews on here seeing that they just try to pay off the negative reviewers. The business should not try to silence customers but rather work on improving their customer service. We held our wedding at EWG in May. Our main concern is that we paid for an extra hour of premium bar service and did not fully receive this service. On the wedding day, the supervisor told us that our guests were “drinking too much” that they ran out of barware, so the bar will be closed for 30 minutes. The venue should have been better prepared and this shouldn’t be the responsibility of the paying customers. After the wedding, we reached out to seek a refund for the 30 minutes during which the bar was closed. We felt like the catering manager, was not responsive our complaint as we were rudely dismissed. In her exact words: “You’re not getting a refund, so what do you want?” When my husband said that she was being was unprofessional, she said “Don”t tell me what’s professional and what’s not. I don’t tell you how to do your job” After this, EWG did not respond to our attempts at further communication. They avoided us and we also noticed that they had blocked us on Instagram (even though we had never mentioned or tagged the venue in anything - so they really went out of their way to search up our accounts to avoid us) We also feel like there is room for improvement in the catering staff. Our package included two bartenders and it was unclear at times if both individuals were serving or if one was in a support role. We also saw many of our guests cutting their steak with butter knives as steak knives were not provided. When this was brought up with the manager, they stated that steak knives weren’t included in our contract. I guess this is our fault for assuming this would be a given, since we had paid a premium for our guests to have ribeye steak and our contract states “inclusive of all cutlery”. After posting this Google review of our experiences, we were met with an extremely hostile phone call from the owner, in which he threatened us with legal action. This is the very first time we ever spoke to him. We spent thousands, and not even a congratulations, or thank you for having your wedding at EWG, or offer to hear out our complaint. He immediately said “Take down your review or we’ll take you to small claims court. It will be very expensive for you and our lawyers move very fast.” He also emailed us that they would notify Google to reveal our IP address to take us to court. (lol which is not a thing). This is all bullying and intimidation and efforts to silence us rather than just simply hearing us out, address our complaint and try to come to a resolution. We felt that they were abusing the legal system in an effort to stifle free speech, including issuing questionable legal threats. After complaining to the BBB, the business repeatedly lied in their responses and claimed outlandish things including: our guests had acted belligerent and had verbally and physically abused their staff and that’s why the bar closed. This NEVER happened. If it did, why was the event allowed to continue? Why was this only mentioned after we complained to BBB? I asked for footage of this because they claimed to have it and they couldn’t provide it. Because it NEVER happened. Overall, reflecting on our interactions with EWG, we feel like our satisfaction was not prioritized in the way we expected it to be, given the importance of a wedding day. We feel traumatized by our interactions with EWG management and very let down with our experience both during and after the wedding. Other brides have also reached out to me to share similar horrifying experiences. I cannot, in good faith, recommend Eglinton West Gallery or Catertrendz to anyone.
