A great experience! I really appreciated the Barber there. Ray listened to all my requests and did them! I received many compliments. Thank you so much!!
My hair was cut shorter than what I had told her. Once I washed my hair at home, I saw how uneven she cut my hair. $85 for shampoo and cut is a bit steep imo. Salon looks rundown too.
After trying to find a salon since moving to Toronto that can properly relax hair, I’m glad I finally found Salon Palais. I’ve been to this salon a few times now and it’s now my go-to place. Sandra is very friendly and knowledgeable about hair. She answers all my hair questions and gives suggestions on future styles and products. The online booking system is also very convenient because I can easily look at available times and book according to my own schedule. I would recommend this place!
Whether you need a line up, shave, or haircut it's always top notch. Regardless of your hair style/texture this barber will do a excellent job. I have seen firsthand people of all races getting their hair done and leaving with a genuine smile of satisfaction.
I took my 9 year old to Salon Palais today. My daughter was happy with the end result, but I was unimpressed by the experience. I had called about a month prior to book the appointment. I was quoted $40 for shampoo and cut. I did explain that my child is of mixed heritage, I am the Asian mom who is not experienced with salons for curly hair. She said Sandra would call me back, which Sandra did. She told me given that my child's hair is very curly it would cost "$60 and up", she did emphasize the "AND UP" part. So I expected (in my mind, $80-$100). She shampooed, detangled and blow dried my daughter's hair, which I understood needed to be done, so that she can see the full length and the ends properly in order to cut. Sandra then also flat ironed her hair, then cut it, followed by curling ironing. In the end, my bill was $153, which was more than 2.5X the quote I got. This was very unprofessional, especially given that she KNEW I didn't know what to expect. The right thing to do, would have been either: 1. To tell me on the phone that it can be up to $153, which would include: shampoo, blow dry, cut and flat and curling iron (the latter two NOT necessary steps). I would have then let her know, I only wanted what was necessary for a cut. OR 2. After the absolute necessary step, ASK if the ADDITIONAL steps (with price) were what I would WANT, before doing it and then forcing me to spend more than DOUBLE what I was quoted. She took FULL advantage of someone who was inexperienced, which is unprofessional, unethical, and certainly shortsighted. I will most certainly NOT be returning, and will make sure all of my friends who are also new to this curly hair journey (as non-curly haired moms) NOT to come to this place. I don't want someone to be taking advantage of the way I was.
Last week I came here for a haircut and had the worse experience ever. Not only were the staff rude but they weren’t Covid friendly. They didn’t offer any hand sanitizer at the door but most importantly they were barely wearing their face masks. The lady cutting my friend’s hair was barely covering her face and was encouraging my friend to take off her mask when working on her bangs. The other hair dresser kept on walking around the salon with no mask as well. Am I the only one that forgot that face masks are mandatory, especially when working on clients in a salon. Let me not forget how rude the hair dresser was. My friend asked me in front of the dresser for my opinion on how short she should get her hair cut and I helped my friend pick a length. As I asked my friend during her hair cut how short she wanted her layers the hair dresser said, and I repeat “this is why we don’t bring friends right next to the person getting the hair cut I know what I’m doing and you are just a distraction”. I never said she didn’t know what she was doing, I was just helping a friend make a decision on her hair length. Second of all I waited for almost an hour for my friends hair to be done. She only got her hair trimmed with some layers. This lady was so slow and seemed as if she didn’t know what she was doing. I do not recommend this place to anyone especially now with Covid because they are not being Covid friendly.
After finding one barber that had a line up before he opened the door after waiting an hour my wife saw Salon Palais also opened I jumped out the chair and headed to Salon Palais. I am very satisfied with the way my son with autism was handled and cared for. After a Previous barber botched my trim twice I was looking for someone else. Glad I found him as not many shops in my area are open on Sunday. Already plan to go back for my future trims.
