My partner and I wanted a fun night out and this studio knocked it out of the park. Jade our instructor was phenomenal.my partner and I were super goofy and brand new to dance. Jade was not only fun and aligned with our playfulness but she gave subtle but precise advice to help us actually dance as a couple. We learned 5 dance styles in half an hour and honestly the look on my girlfriend’s face was worth the world to me. Gentlemen, I would 100% recommend this if you want to see a grin ear to ear with your lady. This studio and Jade were a 10/10 knockout.

It’s hard to articulate how fortunate I feel to have found the incredible team at Arthur Murray North York. I started out terrified of dancing and looking to survive mandatory social dances; a mere three months later and I’m obsessively looking for excuses to spend more time on the dance floor! From day one, I was deeply impressed by the ease with which Nichole and Andrea made me comfortable in what I thought would be a terrifying environment. Their technical ability is incredible, only matched by their outstanding teaching skills. After just a few lessons, they completely nailed my personal learning style, adapted their teaching accordingly, and I’m now improving faster than I ever thought possible. Best of all? I am having so much FUN. The instructors (and the rest of the students) make learning to dance an absolute joy. I’ve got a smile on my face from the moment I walk through the doors until hours after I’ve left!

Six years ago, I was someone who had the proverbial "two left feet": I couldn't move to music to save my life. But I had always wanted to learn how to dance in order to connect with the people around me. After learning some very basic steps at a New Year's Eve gala at a conference, the desire to learn more grew in me and I remembered that I lived near the Arthur Murray studio in North York. After some initial research into the company's history and reputation (100+ years in the business!), I signed up for the no obligation sample lesson with the view of coming for a couple of months to learn some basics and go on my way. Fast forward six years....I write this today as someone who learned some basics and got much, much more: - a hobby I am proud to share with other people - friendships and community with people of various backgrounds and ages - genuine relationships with high-caliber dance professionals - a home away from home In business and in life, I value long-term relationships, a culture of welcoming and inclusion (especially of newcomers), and a commitment to excellence. How and why would one continue or start learning ballroom dancing virtually online amid a universal pandemic? I would like the opportunity to express my positive experience of my private online lessons at Arthur Murray North York, as well as highlight the significance of pursuing dance lessons regardless of how it is delivered. As a health care professional working in the midst of fear and uncertainty, it has become apparent to me that this pandemic has exemplified the necessity to focus on the health and wellness of our physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. Dancing provides the physical fitness, and a reminder that beauty, passion, and joy exists in the world and in our hearts if you chose to tap into it. In a crisis such as this, continuing dance lessons is even more essential than ever before because it places health and wellbeing as paramount. During my online dance lesson I can still take the time to do something positive for myself in the comfort of my own home. I am a busy mother who appreciates efficient use of my time. The high quality of lessons from my teacher are of value to me because they provide an added challenge of not completely relying physically on your partner. For example, I am learning more technical exercises and figures that require me to get out of my comfort zone and truly learn the mechanics of the movement and holding my own body, which I believe will ultimately help me grow stronger in my dancing.
