I used to go to Yummy BBQ often when I was still living in Toronto, and it quickly became one of my go-to Korean food places. Everything on the menu that I’ve tried tastes really good, but my usual orders were the pork bone soup (Gamja-tang) and the barbecue (both pork and beef). The pork bone soup is flavourful, and very comforting, while the barbecue meats are always tasty and satisfying. Portions are generous and you definitely get good value for your money. I know some people mention in their reviews that the owners can come across as grumpy, and I’ve noticed that too. But I also believe we don’t really know what someone has gone through or is going through. Plus, the owners are already older and handle everything themselves -- cooking, serving, working the counter -- so I understand why they may seem stern. In my experience, after a few visits they warmed up a bit, and I came to appreciate their hardworking spirit behind the business. For me, Yummy BBQ has always been about enjoying hearty, authentic Korean dishes, and that’s what keeps me coming back whenever I was in the area. I truly recommend giving this place a try if you want comforting Korean food. I hope more people support this business so it can continue serving delicious meals for years to come.
Looking for the best Korean BBQ, Yummy BBQ in my opinion is the best. Unfortunately they moved from Young St to Don Mills and York Mill area, but Worth the drive.
This take out place is hidden in a food court. The yummy special is the best deal. At 36 dollars you get three types of meat (beef, short ribs and chicken) and lots of side dishes and rice. The portion is well enough for two people. The meat is grilled well and has the charcoal flavour. I believe the meat is supposed to be non spicy but somehow I got the spicy one first time I ordered. I’d choose the spicy one over the non spicy. The meat is just more juicy and tender. What surprises me the most is the egg battered zucchini. It’s light on the taste and not oily. A perfect side dish to pair with the spicy meat. For the kimchi, it’s not that great and I think it’s store bought. I also ordered the seafood pancake at a different time and it was not great. Too much batter, too starchy, and I can’t taste/find any seafood. The place is run by a Korean couple and I noticed that lots of Koreans going there and buying their foods. It must say something about the authenticity. Highly recommend the Yummy Special (ask for spicy). Cant say too much about other items on the menu as I haven’t tried them yet.
The owner who handles the order and cash registry is sooo grumpy and mean!old man disrespecting to the customers,I canceled my order and I'm not recommended to anyone....
If I could give 0 starts I definitely would. The old Korean guy there was so rude for no reason. He asked if we’re okay to wait for 40 minutes and we were like okay and after he said that you can go somewhere else to eat. Like who says that if you don’t want people to eat at your restaurant then just shut it down. Such a pathetic experience here without even getting the food!!!!
The old man at the till is probably one of the rudest people I've met. If you don't like doing your job. Stay home. Replying to your response the person at the front is you the face of your business. When a customer asks what do you recommend and he goes on a tirade. I don't care about what's going on in the back you should still be polite. I hope that's not vague enough for you. And so you know I wrote the review as I was waiting for my order.
Owner cut me off as I started ordering with a “NO!” And then just left and went to the back lol. I stood there for 30sec but he never came back EDIT: since the business replied, I’d like to point out the time was 2:03PM when you didn’t bother to let me finish ordering. Perhaps you’re also forgetting I was in line for nearly 10 minutes while you were, understandably, preparing the order of the previous customer. You didn’t even give me the chance to finish ordering, let alone consider a different order. Thanks for the laugh… “we don’t like people” hahaha
