Jerk lunch special was bad. I was there at 11:40 am when it was fresh Jerk Chicken- dry and tasteless Rice and peas- rice was hard Ox tail gravy- very good and they gave me extra. It is in a food court, but it still tasted horrible.
The lady working there on December 2nd 2025 needs to be replaced. Don't take out your negative energy on me. Plus the rice and chicken weren't cooked properly. Absolutely terrible and don't recommend to anyone who values quality.
Garbage. Don't waste your money. First of all ackee and saltfish comes with either fried dumplings and plantain, or boiled dumplings, banana and yams. I don't like paying 2.25 for 3 and a half pieces of plantain. I don't like my festival so soaked in oil the insides are like mashed potatoes. All I taste is oil and it's making me sick to my stomach. It tastes like table salt was added to the ackee and saltfish. Small portion sizes for 24 dollars. Never again.
I placed a catering order scheduled for delivery on May 22nd at 5:00 PM, totaling $300 ish . Due to a severe soy allergy, I attempted to make a last-minute change from jerk chicken to BBQ chicken. I sent an email requesting the change but never received a confirmation—neither a yes nor a no. I understand it was a late request, but even a quick response would have been appreciated. I also called the catering number listed on their website multiple times throughout the day and left a voicemail, expecting a callback. Unfortunately, I never received one. With no response, I called the Liberty Village location, assuming the order would be prepared there since the delivery address was in Parkdale. I was surprised to learn that the order was actually being handled by the Yonge and Sheppard location in North York. When I contacted the Yonge and Sheppard location closer to the scheduled delivery time, I was told the order still hadn’t been picked up—despite it being due at 5:00 PM. The delivery ended up being 1.5 hours late. That said, I want to acknowledge that the person at the Yonge and Sheppard location was kind enough to accommodate the allergy concern by preparing half BBQ chicken and half jerk chicken. I really appreciated that thoughtful gesture. This meal was meant as an appreciation dinner for staff who work with individuals facing mental health and homelessness challenges. It was important to me that this went smoothly. Unfortunately, the lack of communication, missed follow-ups, and the late delivery made for a frustrating experience. I hope your team takes this feedback seriously to improve reliability and customer communication moving forward.
I came to this food court to find lunch during work and found this new place. Very well priced and I was interested in something spicy - so The Islands sounded great. The sandwich was perfect so that I don’t stuff myself and can focus at work. The chicken, cole slaw and the sauces were superb. The chicken was soft and crispy (if you can understand that taste) and the sauces were super flavourful. If you can handle spice, I highly recommend the hot sauce even though it is for 50 cents, but I recommend it. Great place for a quick bite for carribean food.
The food from this Caribbean yummy joint is delix...well cookly fresh especially the sweet oxtail i had with plain rice the other day. Dont worrey with negatives ppl chatting bout the business needs more boost..booo boo to them. CHEF HAS THE MAGIC TOUCH MASTER GOOD HAND IN WEST INDIAN COOKING.
