I own a Ford F-150 and was having transmission issues. I first brought it to Ford, where they kept the truck for 4 days, did road tests, updated the software, swapped different tires, and charged me $200—only to tell me that the transmission needed to be overhauled. Looking for a second opinion, I went to Woodbridge Transmissions LTD. Peter test drove the truck with diagnostic equipment connected, showed me another F-150 transmission, and explained exactly what was wrong with mine. He quoted me $5,000 for the repair but didn’t charge me a cent for the diagnostics. Very honest and straightforward. I then contacted Chris because a guy who I bought winter tires from asked me to call him. Over the phone, after explaining the situation and the quote I got, he told me it should cost around $1,500, definitely not more than $2,000. Even though his shop was far from me, I decided to take the truck there hoping to save $3,500. I spent $50 on an Uber to drop it off, but a few days later Chris called back and said it would be over $5,000—the same issue I told him about from the start. To make things worse, I had to take time off work (since the shop closes at 4), spend another $50 on an Uber to pick it up, and then he charged me $90 for the “diagnosis.” When I asked why, given that Ford and another transmission specialist had already confirmed the issue, he claimed it was for his “expertise.” But it was clear he had no real knowledge of this transmission and only called around to ask others. The irony is that the actual transmission expert (Woodbridge Transmissions) gave me more value and transparency and didn’t charge me a dime. If you value your car, your money, and your time—do not bring it here especially it's a big job. After wasting time, money, and effort, this was a lesson well learned.
